An update on my recent work which is a series of paintings called A snapshot of my journey in Southern Africa. The paintings are collectively over a time period of three weeks and show my journey from Knysna to Port Elizabeth, then onto Johannesburg, to Cape Town including Stellenbosch.
The majority are painted in acrylics with some including mediums for effect and one that is in oil. I wanted to portray the contrast of the country and its demographics. It amazes me how raw the landscapes and the vast contrasts of wealthy areas to the amazing coloured shanti townships, which are vibrant and creative in the materials they use to build their own homes with.
